The Northern Territory Government (NTG) offers exciting and challenging full-time and school-based traineeship opportunities to Territorians in remote, regional and urban locations.

Traineeships combine employment with structured learning to develop workplace skills and provide a nationally recognised qualification at the certificate II, III, IV and Diploma Level.

To be eligible for the Traineeship Program you must:

  • have successfully completed Year 10 or be over the age of 17
  • not hold a higher level qualification, or equivalent qualification in a similar discipline
  • be eligible to work in Australia for the period of the program.
  • if applying for the Aboriginal Traineeship Program, be of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander Descent.

Salary conditions

$15 765 to $34 597 per annum for the first year of the traineeship, dependent on the highest level of school completed, year of completion, level of qualification being undertaken and age.

Required documentation

At time of application, the following documents need to be provided/submitted: 

  • complete online application form
  • evidence of successful completion of Year 10 (if applying for school-based)
  • provide most recent school results (if under the age of 21)
  • provide an up-to-date resume with two current referees
  • provide Confirmation/Certificate of Aboriginality (if applying for the NTG Aboriginal Traineeship program).

Applicants must be:

  • be an Australian citizen
  • hold Australian permanent residence status
  • hold an appropriate working visa.
