NTPS Vacation Employment Program

The Vacation Employment Program provides students currently undertaking degree studies, for the first time, at an Australian recognised university with the opportunity to gain valuable learning opportunities and paid workplace experience in the Northern Territory Public Sector (NTPS).
The Vacation Employment Program provides paid short-term employment within NTPS agencies, starting at the Administrative Officer 1 Level.
These positions range from administrative to fieldwork, with the opportunity to gain a range of skills that may include database maintenance, communications, research, working with legislation and event coordination.

Eligibility

To be eligible for the NTPS Vacation Employment Program you must:

  • be a current full-time university student
  • be studying your first degree
  • be studying at an Australian recognised university
  • be studying in both semesters either side of the Vacation Period
  • be eligible to work in Australia for the duration of the program.

Salary conditions

Administrative Officer 1 starting at $45 020 and Administrative Officer 2 starting at $49 485.

Recruitment

Applications for the Vacation Employment Program are advertised in March and August for employment during the mid-year (June to July) and end of year university vacation periods (November to February).

Required documentation

At time of application, the following documents are required to be provided/submitted by the applicant: 

  • complete online application form
  • proof of enrolment at an Australian recognised university
  • provide an up-to-date resume
  • if you are not an Australian Citizen, provide a current visa that grants you the right to be employed in Australia for the duration of the program.
